The oil furnace from hell. Well on the night Friday
2/29/2008 I get a call at about 8:30 pm that
the furnace is not working in trailer 8. I go down and start
checking it out. The furnace would not fire. It had oil and power
but would not fire. So it was late at night and I just come home and
pulled what I was told a rebuilt burner. I got down and start pulling
out the old one and installing the new one. I got done
and it fired up and we got heat, kool. I get a call next morning
round 8:00 am no heat. Humm I go down and hit the reset and we got heat.
Ok what was that all about? I hang round and the furnace would cycle on
and off and work fine. Ok problem fixed. Well for the next day it
would run for a hour or two and the reset would kick. So I replaced
the control box and still it would not run. It would run and fire for
about 30sec and reset. Well it has to be the photo eye. So I replaced it.
Bingo it worked. Well it worked for most of the day and on Monday I come
in to replace and seal that I did not have the day I pulled the burner and
after I got done and started it up I was back to the same thing. It would
run for about 30sec and kick the reset. Ok I'm missing something. I
checked everything I could think of and no go. Well ok after god knows how
many hours I said to hell with this. I call in a furnace man. He showed up
the next day and after about 20min he had it up and running. He made some adjustments
I did not know about. The burner assembly was out of adjustment. He told me how
to make the adjustments and what to look for. So after 5 days of hell the
problem was a brake down of the furnace on day one and parts that failed
that were marked ok and were not. And things that should have been setup
right but were not. Well live and learn. Now the other two burners that I
was told were rebuilt I will have to go over and check ever thing over to
make sure they are setup right.
